Together we are one
Day after day, year after year, we are proud of transforming our services and providing a high-quality university hospital for all.
The year will remain marked by the opening of the Gustave Julliard building and the extension of the Maternity hospital, which offer new standards in terms of comfort, care and working conditions. They are leading to new collaborations with home help and a public pharmacy that promote continuity of care and are advantageous for our patients.
With these constructions, HUG is entering a new era and being transformed. This is demonstrated by the progress made on several strategic projects, with the creation of a “Patients as Partners” platform and an innovation centre.
These pages offer an overview of the actions carried out in 2017 to improve the quality of hospital stays and adapt the healthcare organization.
In healthcare, initiatives were taken to free up more time for patients and improve communication.
These included raising awareness among healthcare practitioners with regard to the deaf or hard-of-hearing and training in therapeutic communication within the framework of an unprecedented programme in Switzerland.
2017 also presented its share of innovations in research and treatment with GPS-guided pulmonary stereotactic radiotherapy and high-definition 4D echocardiography. This technique was tested in a Swiss first.
Proud of its success, HUG is keen to strengthen its collaborations and develop its expertise, for example in the very recent French-speaking Swiss oncology network.
We would like to thank all of the HUG members of staff, representing 180 different professions, for their outstanding commitment to a common goal: providing care. Together we are one.
Last but not least, we wish to express our gratitude to the authorities, patients and their loved ones for their continued trust.
