Bâtiments Lina Stern et Gustave Julliard

Short-stay admissions are generally accommodated in the Lina Stern and Gustave Julliard hospital buildings. They include emergencies (FR), intensive care, operating theatres, care units and state-of-the-art investigation techniques. They also include a private wing. The aim is to diagnose and treat ailments and traumas which are very often acute.

A large smokers’ area with shelters is provided on one side of the Opéra terrace.

     

   

In order to be able to carry out treatments in the best possible way,
we recommend that the public comes to the hospital from 10 am onwards.

Your hospital admission

Drop in beforehand!

As soon as you know the date of your admission to hospital, we request that you come to the Admissions Office a few days beforehand if your state of health allows this. This gives you a chance to complete the administrative formalities and save yourself the trouble on the day of your admission to hospital.

Admission

The Admissions Office is open for you from Monday to Friday, from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm. In July and August it closes at 5 pm. It is located at the main entrance.

Check your insurance policies

If you do not live in the Canton of Geneva or if you are the beneficiary of supplementary insurance, international or foreign insurance, please contact the telephone number +41 22 372 64 51 to check that your hospital stay will be fully covered.

CHECK-LIST 

To register you must submit :

  • the notification sheet
  • insurance card or cover guarantee from your health insurance fund or insurance company
  • an identity document (passport, identity card, family record book or residence permit for foreigners living in Switzerland)
  • if admitted following an accident: the health insurer’s decision, quoting the claim number
  • the decision of the statutory Invalidity Insurance, if this is the reason for your admission to hospital
  • a financial deposit or proof of such a deposit if you do not have a full guarantee from a recognised insurance company or if the treatment is not covered by basic health insurance benefits (LAMal)
  • if your hospital stay is taking place in a private or semi-private room, the administrative consent document for the treatment, transmitted with your notification, duly signed (otherwise hospital admission is not possible).

Green space

The Opéra garden and terrace situated between the Lina Stern and Gustave Julliard buildings provides a restful and shaded area for our inpatients and their close friends and relatives.

Telephone

If you would like to use a telephone, please contact a nurse so that one can be provided to you. A telephone bill will be sent to you. If you wish, you can also make a prepayment before activating your line. In this case, if the credit balance used is less than the advance payment, the difference will not be refunded to you. If you overrun your prepayment, you will be invoiced at your home address.

Your discharge

CHECK-LIST 

Before you leave hospital, please make sure you have received the following : 

  • a notification of discharge
  • a doctor’s / sick-leave certificate (if necessary)
  • a card indicating your treatment
  • a prescription (if necessary)
  • a physiotherapy or domiciliary care prescription (if necessary)
  • a follow-up appointment with your general practitioner or at the hospital.

HUG arcade

This includes an area for information, relaxation, a cash office and the Mediation Unit. It is located on the 1st floor of the Gustave Julliard building (rue Alcide-Jentzer 17, 1205 Genève). This cosy arcade has sofas. Medical information and a children’s play area are also provided.

Access card / Lina Stern and Gustave Julliard buildings

For your security, access to your treatment unit is by access card from 10 pm to 6 am. Please ask the unit nurse for one.

Cash machine / David Klein building

The site has two BCGE cash dispensers.

Cash office / Gustave Julliard building

Located on the 1st floor in the Arcade HUG, it is open from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 12 pm and from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Do not forget to collect your valuables if you are leaving the hospital outside of these hours.

Religious services / Lina Stern and Opéra buildings

Religious services are generally offered on Sundays and on Christian celebration days in the ecumenical chapel in the Rejuvenation space. The timings are displayed in each unit and sent to the office of the medical and care team.

Located on the 1st floor.

Rejuvenation space / Opéra building

This space welcomes patients and their close friends and relatives who wish to reflect or recover their internal strength in a space of intimacy and silence. It contains four sub-spaces, Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Humanist. It is located in the Opéra building, floor 0 and it is open every day from 6 am to 21 pm.

Accommodation for relatives

The HUG Transplantation accommodation building provides apartments for families. Please ask the care team for more information.

Laundry

The hospital will provide you with a gown intended for your care. Please remember to bring your own toilet bag, pyjamas or nightdress, dressing gown, slippers, which should preferably have a back - and any other items you may need.

Pharmacy

A 24-hour pharmacy is located in the Gustave Julliard building. The entrance is at boulevard de la Cluse 38.

Patient-visitor day room / Gustave Julliard building

A space for welcoming your visitors is provided in each unit.

Stamps and letter boxes / Lina Stern and Gustave Julliard buildings

Stamps are on sale at the reception of the David Klein building.

A letter box is provided in the main entrance to the Lina Stern building.

There is also one on each floor of this building. In the Gustave Julliard building there is a letter box in front of reception and one on each floor from 2nd to the 8th floors, near the elevators.

Visits

Close friends and relatives may visit any day between 8 am to 8 pm.
