Pituitary gland neurosurgery

The pituitary gland is a gland in the brain that controls the secretion of many hormones. Sometimes tumors or cysts can develop in this area and require so-called “extraction” surgery. This is carried out under a microscope, using an endoscope or both.

After a complete assessment by endocrinologists and ophthalmologists, the team evaluates the indication for surgery. It is generally performed transnasally (through the nose) or more rarely by a transcranial approach.
