Convinced of its privileged strategic position in terms of the diagnostic approach of diseases and understanding their underlying pathophysiological mechanisms, the CPD is firmly committed to patient-oriented clinical, translational and basic research.
At the interface between clinical and fundamental scientific disciplines, clinical pathology research takes advantage of clinical/anatomical correlations and concerns itself with various topics such as cancer and metastasis mechanisms, nervous system inflammatory disorders, or the process of tissue fibrosis, etc.
In collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva, the CPD offers various services for researchers within a single core facility: the Faulty Department of Histology (FDH). The FDH offers technical processing of specimens, with the production of histology slides and immunohistochemistry, as well as hybridization techniques on site.
Through its management of biobanks, the CPD handles tissue samples that are collected and preserved for research projects with the informed consent of the patient.
