Mission of the Clinical Pathology Division
The Clinical Pathology Division provides clinical diagnoses, along with activities in research and teaching.
The analysis of tissue or cell specimens derived from biopsies, surgery and cytology serves not only to establish diagnoses, but also to evaluate prognostic or predictive factors of the response to certain treatments, which vary according to the pathologies diagnosed. The diagnostic activities of the Pathology Division thus serve to orient the care provided to patients and contribute to therapy decisions. Lastly, by doing medical autopsies and through its research activities, the Clinical Pathology Division contributes to the understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms involved in wound processes.
