  • Research
In close collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, the HUG leads top-level medical research and actively contributes to progress in medicine through advanced research in medical and healthcare disciplines.

Vision : the path forward

An institution’s vision represents its path and intended destination. The HUG’s consists of five strategic objectives. These are to :

  • Excel
for its patients by enhancing patient reception, participation, quality, and cost-effectiveness of care.
  • Give meaning
to the commitment of HUG staff by clarifying the values and missions of the institution and how they are reflected in daily practice, while also strengthening the staff's sense of belonging.
  • Work better, together
by breaking down silos between roles and structures, improving processes, promoting multidisciplinary collaboration, and recognizing staff efforts.
  • Affirm HUG's role as part of the Lake Geneva healthcare network
clearly positioning itself as a key player in the regional health valley’s care, research, and education system.
  • Prepare for the future
by developing agility, innovation, measurement, and the capacity to train the professions of today and tomorrow.

Values : philosophy

Institutional values

An institution’s values represent its credo. At HUG, four values unite staff around our common missions :

Relational values

In addition to these four institutional values, five relational values were selected by the HUG staff to foster better collaboration in their service to patients, namely :

  • Trust
Granting trust is a powerful act. Trust is built within the connections that unite professionals with each other and with patients.
  • Respect
The HUG values respect among staff members, patients, and their families.
  • Team spirit
Staff at the HUG staff value team spirit. They make room for others, whether they are patients or colleagues.
  • Recognition
The HUG acknowledges and values the skills and work of each individual on a daily basis.
  • Equality and inclusion
The HUG champions equality and rejects all fomrs of violence and discrimination. It values diversity and sees it as a strength for the institution.
