The Care Directorate has established a research schedule to identify priorities for care research at HUG, and to coordinate and guide research activities in the field of care.
Six key areas have been defined:
- the quality and safety of care
- symptom management
- therapeutic education and health behavior
- innovative interventions
- translation of good practice into care
- organization and delivery of care.
The Care Directorate supports the development of applied scientific research in the field of patient, family or community-oriented care. Applied research means research where the primary purpose is to develop new knowledge, the results of which can be used in the practice of care.
The scope of care research includes:
- nursing care
- midwives
- physiotherapy
- occupational therapy
- diet
- social assistance
- medical radiology technology
- activity
- psychomotor education
- art therapy.
This is relatively autonomous research that is initiated and conducted by healthcare staff.
To promote the development of research in care at HUG, the Care Directorate can rely on:
- A Research and Quality Sector where one of the missions is to support research and development projects arising from practical environments.
- A Research Fund that provides support for projects from practical HUG environments.
- A Scientific Life Development Program within HUG.
