The division ensures medical management of:

The Curabilis facility

which today includes:

  • The Correctional Psychiatric Hospital Unit (UHPP) which receives, under the law on the health of incarcerated prisoners with acute psychiatric conditions for French-speaking Switzerland and Italian-speaking Switzerland, persons in pretrial detention and placements for expert assessment 
  • Four closed environment units (opening of a fifth unit is unit is planned in early 2018)

Two open environment units

located at the Belle-Idée location (Lilas and Seran).

As the only representative of the legal authorities for the execution of measures, the SMI is also in charge of quality control of all outpatient measures in collaboration with public and private therapists (more than 200 cases for the Canton of Geneva).
