Professor Christian Toso is Director of the Division of Digestive Surgery of the University Hospitals of Geneva, and Full Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Geneva. Professor Toso studied medicine at the University of Geneva.
After training in general abdominal surgery in Switzerland, he specialized in liver and pancreatic surgery and transplantation at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada).
In parallel with his clinical activity, Professor Toso has a strong background in medical research, obtaining a Doctor of Science (PhD) at the University of Alberta (Edmonton, Canada). He heads an important clinical and fundamental research group at the University of Geneva, whose main fields of research are surgery and liver transplantation, mainly for liver cancer.
Professor Toso is the author of over 300 publications and has received numerous national and international awards. His work is supported by numerous research grants (including the Swiss National Science Foundation).
