The SOS Gelures [SOS Frostbite] project is a cross-border medical research program on the emergency treatment of severe frostbite.
The objective is to improve the initial treatment of frostbite and to reduce sequelae through the use of hyperbaric therapy. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy proves to be a promising treatment in this field and may, in view of the pathophysiology of frostbite, be a significant added value for patients.
This project was born from a cooperation between the Hôpitaux du Mont-Blanc Emergency Room and the Hyperbaric Therapy Center of the Geneva University Hospitals.
This program is co-funded by European grants on the French side and by the Swiss Confederation and the Canton of Geneva on the Swiss side.
