For the past twenty years environmental protection and sustainability have been integrated into specific projects and actions and then into the strategic plans and institutional programs of the HUG.
As the largest employer in the canton of Geneva, the Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG) have an important social responsibility towards their employees, patients and the community living in the wider Geneva region.
Aware of these challenges, in addition those also posed by the climate and the environment, the HUG have drawn up a roadmap for the next decade.
The Sustainability Strategy 2030 builds on the Vision 20+5 strategic plan’s commitment to "more agility and sustainability in meeting the challenges faced by our society".
Based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), it is in line with the 2030 priorities of the Swiss Confederation and the Sustainable Development Concept of the Canton of Geneva.
This strategy sets priorities in relation to the hospitals’ activities regarding the greatest sustainability challenges.
