Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology
Mission of the Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Division
- Guarantee and promote, through clinical practice and the training of health professionals, the quality of drug therapy in general, and prescriptions in particular. This takes into account the imperatives of efficacy (e.g. "evidence-based medicine"), safety (e.g. PAO, drug interactions, warnings) and treatment costs (e.g. pharmacoeconomics).
- Be the referral division that coordinates the care of chronic refractory pain for HUG as a whole (multidisciplinary center). Offer specialized services for pain relief in case of refractory pain and at the Cluse-Roseraie site in the field of palliative care.
- Supervise indications and interpret laboratory tests involving measurement of blood concentrations of drugs and pharmacogenomic testing for therapeutic or toxicological purposes.
- Patients can be admitted or treated as outpatients. In the latter case, patients are given a referral consultation by their regular physician.
