Clinical and glaucoma research

Glaucoma

The clinical and glaucoma research of our department comprises the transfer of therapeutic approaches developed in our laboratories into the clinic and clinical trials for new drugs and innovative surgical procedures, especially focusing on the optimisation of treatment approaches for glaucoma. There are five major objectives:

  • Chirurgical methods to rescue from glaucoma, aiming at reducing side effects associated with chirurgical interventions and decrease recovery time.
  • Monitoring of the intra-ocular pressure during 24h in order to establish personalized glaucoma treatments
  • Optimisation of laser-based treatment for moderate forms of glaucoma
  • Prevention of postoperative scars as much as possible
  • Optimisation of imaging technics and evaluation of glaucoma
