An innovative approach to cancer
Inaugurated in 2015 and placed under the responsibility of Professor Christophe Iselin, the HUG centre for prostate cancer is the first centre of its kind to be certified in western Switzerland and only the third in the whole of Switzerland. Like any centre, it has the distinction of providing a multidisciplinary service, with input from experts from five different branches, and coordinated in such a way as to establish comprehensive and personalized care for each and every patient.
Attached to the oncology centre, this structure is equipped with a next-generation technical platform. With technologies like the Da Vinci Xi robot and the Novalis TX and TrueBeam linear accelerators, surgical and radiotherapeutic procedures are minimally invasive and the patient's quality of life is preserved. Because the tumour is targeted to the millimetre, the risk of damage to healthy tissue is minimised.
